YES drummer Alan White is honored each year in Newcastle, WA. Sept. 12 is Alan White Day in the City of Newcastle. It pays tribute to the contributions of Newcastle resident and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Alan White, drummer for the band YES. In 2010, in recognition of his countless charitable and community contributions, the city of Newcastle chose to honor him with his own day. September 12th, now and forevermore, to be remembered as ‘Alan White Day’. Alan never took his position as a significant figure in music history for granted—nor did he take it too seriously.
